Our Traditional Pork Pie Wins 17th Award!


Great British Food Magazine’s Farm Produce Awards 2014 were a roaring success and we were delighted to receive both a first place award for our Traditional Pork Pie and runner up for new product: Halen Mon Sea Salt & Vanilla Cupcake. This is the 17th award given to our much loved pork pie and the first of many for the fantastic cakes our bakery produces.

Great British Food Magazine released the below statement:

Great British Food is pleased to announce the winners of its inaugural Farm Produce Awards, celebrating the most delicious local foods from producers from all over the British Isles. Over 300 entries were judged by a panel of food editors across 14 categories, while the magazine’s readers voted for the ‘GBF Farm Hero’ award, which this year was snapped up by Burt’s Crisps.

“This is the first year we’ve run the awards and I’m absolutely delighted with the results,” says Natasha Lovell-Smith, editor of Great British Food magazine and chair of the judging panel. “Our winners span the length and breadth of Britain, from Edwards of Conwy butchers in North Wales to The Flour Station bakery in London, and the standard of produce was truly remarkable, making the judging extremely hard fought.

“In Great British Food magazine we celebrate the very best UK produce – from Kentish hops and Scottish salmon to heritage fruits and rare breed meat – and as a result our judges took the taste and provenance of each entry very seriously, as well as awarding points for packaging and overall appearance. All of our winners are right at the top of their game, both in terms of fantastic flavour and their dedication to local sourcing. We can’t wait to get started on next year’s awards.”
