Great Taste 2014 reveals new stars and Edwards of Conwy is a winner once again!03/09/14
The world’s largest blind-tasted food awards Great Taste, has just released the stars of 2014 and Edwards of Conwy are proud to announce that we are once again amongst the producers celebrating. Lincolnshire Pork Sausage, Thick Cut Dry Cure Bacon, Thick Cut Dry Cure Streaky Bacon and A Very Large Gammon Steak are now able to proudly carry the little gold and black Great Taste logo having been awarded a total of 5 gold stars which can now be added to our growing collection of Great Taste Winners.
Since 1994 Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for discovering exceptional food and drink. It has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world and the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’. Quite simply the Great Taste logo is the sign you can trust when buying food and drink in your local, quality retailer. Judged by over 400 of the most demanding palates, including 40 specially trained coordinating food writers who input judges’ comments, chefs, restaurateurs and retailers who work extremely hard blind tasting a total of 10,000 different foods and drink over just under 50 days to give honest, straightforward and impartial feedback in the search for those that deserve to be championed. They discover the very best, differentiating outstanding products that stand out from the norm and gives customers a reliable seal of approval.
Our thriving reputation for producing high quality meat products has been established over 30 years and is at the very heart of everything we do, whether in our Shop in Conwy or in our fantastic production unit. We pride ourselves on being able to make our products in larger size batches at the same high quality as we always have done in our shop, whilst still keeping to the traditional methods and recipes. Being able to do this is all down to the people who work for us, the ingredients we buy, and the close attention given to quality, consistency & taste.
Finally, on Monday, 8 September, at a nail-biting Awards’ Dinner at the Royal Garden Hotel, London, the great and the good from the world of fine food will gather to hear who has won the Golden Fork Awards and the final applause will be reserved for the Great Taste Supreme Champion 2014.
